My Wellness Journey. Tips, tricks, books.
I am definitely this annoying person who says “grateful” way too often, spends fortune on pilates reformer classes, go to sleep before 10 pm and says her affirmations every single day. But guess what, it works!
My Morning Non Negotiable Routine
5 years ago I read “5am club“ and “The Miracle Morning“ and it changed my perspective on living. I won’t be lying saying that I wake up everyday at 5am (more like 7 o clock), but I managed to squeeze some of the routines they’re mentioning in the book plus a few added by me. My miracle mornings consists of:
A few conscious breaths or 15 minute meditation
Yoga practice for about 20 minutes (1 hour on weekends)
Gratitude journal (I use The Five Minute Journal)
Journaling and planning my day or week (I use Jaśnie Plan)
Reading 2-3 pages of a book (this is the most effective method for me, I read so many books already)
This is the routine I’ve sticked with for the past 3 years at least. Can’t believe how it changed my life, improved my mental health, wellbeing and body.
Therapy and reading
But probably the biggest change that affected my life is a therapy that I started 3 years ago after a massive panic attacks and anxiety period of my life, that luckily, will the help of a specialist, is now cured.
I’ve always been a geek. Learning for me is cool and sexy, so hand in hand with the therapy, I educated myself on mental health by reading exceptional books. Here is a list that I totally recommend ( I use English titles but linking Polish translations): “Wintering”, “The courage to be disliked“, “It didn’t start with you“, “I’m so effing tired“, “Nie wierz, we wszystko co czujesz“, “Komunikacja bez przemocy“, “Czuła przewodniczka“, “Przędza“, “O zmierzchu“.
And still on my to-read list: “No excuses“, “Ultra processed people“, “Ego is the enemy“.
I am not a big fan of podcasts but I am a devoted listener of Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” and the Calm App that I use to meditate, learn about mindfullness and relax when I have anxiety during a flight.
The most expensive hobby I could find
Moving is living. I remember times when I’d workout for a week and didn’t have motivation for 3 months, then getting back on track and quitting again. That were the times when by working out I wanted to have a certain body shape. The moment I stopped moving for the aperance and started doing it for the mind, I never quit.
I felt in love with yoga (I’ve been practicing it for 12 years omg!), ballet and pilates. I do most of my trainings at home with online classes. My favourite yoga community is Boho Beautiful, I highly recommend their subscription as well as Form.
Call me a Pilates Princess. It’s been a year since I’ve been going for pilates reformer classes and I genuinely filled some kind of void in my heart. I call it my adult playground, because it’s both a workout and a fun activity.
If you’re looking for some reformer classes in Warsaw I highly recommend: Polka Pilates, Palm Studio, Pani od Pilatesu and if you’re in search for classic pilates on a mat, then you absolutely you have to go to Iga’s Warsaw Pilates class (she organises classes in some insane locations).
Pilates teaches you how to be gentle with your body and that even a tiny move can be super important for your physical health and posture.
Where I shop cute workout clothes?
My top choices are Adanola and Alo Yoga. I’ve been wearing Adanola for years now and I bought my first Alo set in NYC last year (linking below the Airbrush set). I love style and quality of both of them.
Personally, I also love Skims. They pair together clean aesthetic, comfort and the pricing is still very descent. I regularly buy cotton Fits Everybody line. I’d put on your radar bralettes and boxers for instance!
My favourite Polish brand that design workout and everyday clothes is Muuv. I’ve had their leggins for about 7 years now and they’re still seamless.
Here are links to some of my favourite “Pilates princess essentials”: minimal chic sets that gives you that ballerina look, equipment and accessories that I take to classes.
