My dream apartment tour
Exactly 1 year ago, on New Year’s Eve, I moved into my first apartment, that I bought. This was a long journey. Let me get you trough it.
“I want to have an apartment before turning 30!”
I think I was searching for a perfect place for about 5 years, in the meantime I almost have bought 2 apartments, but quit after all. It’s a scary process, especially of you’re on your own in doing it. I’ve always said to myself that “I want to buy my first place until 30 years old” and I guess the universe listened to my affirmation.
At the end of 2023, when I was only few months away from turning 31, I got the termination of the lease of the apartment that I was renting. I said to myself “It’s sign, don’t ignore it”. I decided to do everything in my power to find an apartment within the last 4 months of the year. Guess what, I did. Don’t want to tell more details but have to say that you can’t say you’re an adult unless you do totally by yourself all the paperwork considering your mortgage and buying a home.
I guess if I didn’t have a knife on my throat I would still be looking for a “perfect place” and hesitate to do the first step. That’s why I am extremely grateful that the universe pushed me from my comfort zone (you know what they say about comfort zone: it’s a lovely space but nothing grows there).
Creating a “soft minimalism” space
I’d like to believe that this cute 40 meters apartment that I found was meant to be for me. Truly, it’s small but spacious, modern but cosy and it’s a perfect reminiscent of my classic and timeless style. I call this place “a beige apartment” because of it soft minimalism vibes.
The main colour here is beige, white and black. To add a little bit more character to it I’ve added a few stainless steel decorations and a touch of orange (not just any orange but the Hermes orange!) and gradually I’m investing in Polish art.
For my 31st birthday I gifted myself a beautiful Agnieszka Owsiany jute thread work of art and now I am dreaming about Sonia Dubois work that would look perfect in the hallway.
My (almost) walk in closet
I am a fashion editor, so obviously I wanted to have lots of space for clothes and accessories here (which my previous apartment lacked the most), so I have a walk in closet in the whole living room area. It’s funny how I use to manage to keep all of my clothes in 1 small wardrobe and now I have 4 and they’re totally full.
My proud and joy
There are a few solutions that I love the most here. Firstly, separate kitchen. I know there’s a trend to unite kitchen and living room but I hate seeing dirty dishes and kitchen mess whenever I am relaxing on my couch. For me, having it in another room is more practical solution.
Secondly, I’m glad to finally have a laundry room, even if it’s super small, the view of the washing maschine and dryer stacked on top of each other and hidden makes me so happy.
Last but now least, now I finally have a shelf to show off my work – which are ELLE Poland magazines that I co-create.
Things I bought that I don’t regret
There were few specific things for this house that I wanted. First is Samsung The Frame TV that can showcase various works of art and looks not just like a regular TV. I think they quality of the way it showcases the art is amazing!
Tekla. I’ve been obsessed with this home Danish brand for a few years. They produce their towels and bedsheets in Portugal and I heard a lot about the quality of their products (not to mention Scandinavian aesthetic). I bought their towels and bathrobe for now but believe me bedsheets are on my dream list!
Kitchen Aid. I’ve never been a baker but with this kitchen tool will help me to become a master (I wish actually).
Le Creuset pan. I didn’t buy it, it was actually a house warming party gift (picked my me!). I love it’s quality and I cook with it every day.
Service Projects. Stainless steel is a huge interior trend at the moment and I am going with the flow of it. I would to have my hands on Service Projects french press as well.
I selected below few of my favourite things that I have in my home that helped me create this soft minimalism vibe.
